It’s commonly known that not everyone learns the same way. Each of the five primary senses – taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound – assists in education in different capacities for each individual. So for those that are more visually inclined, something like learning another language can be almost impossible through traditional methods, no matter how many audiobooks or conversations are attempted.
How good would it be if we could interlace learning to engage more than one of these senses? Well Lingo have done just that, combining sight and speech with good times by developing a signature range of educational playing cards.
Designed and written by travellers for travellers, Lingo evolved from a notebook of translations collected while on a road trip through Central America. Between surfing, exploring the local landscape, and playing cards, the Spanish Lingo deck was born. Twelve months and Kickstart campaign later, 10 languages have been developed, including French, Swedish, and of course Aussie Slang.
Best yet, being small and compact – and no batteries required – they are the perfect travel companion, providing hours of entertainment, whether killing time awaiting a connecting flight, to teaching yourself what ‘wie heibt du?’ means in German.
